Turkey does not have a tradition of civil think tanks based on comprehensive political, social, and economic analyses. Studies in this area have been limited to activities carried out by some public institutions and universities from an academic perspective, and truly civil institutional structures have not been established and developed. Think tanks in the US, Europe, and some other countries have tried to fill this gap in Turkey with "external perspectives receiving internal contributions."

After the 1980s, with significant changes in all areas in Turkey, a movement in this context was also observed. Analysis and forecasting-based studies were conducted in collaboration with various public institutions, various political groups, and think tanks abroad. These studies were mostly carried out by people with academic, journalist, and bureaucratic identities. By the 2000s, institutional structures in this field had begun to take shape.

The YZ STRATEGY team consists of individuals who have been involved in these studies since the 1980s and have continued their activities with various institutional titles to this day. The agenda reviews, strategic reports, political research, vocational training/educational research, etc., prepared by this team under the AKART and AAR STRATEGY brands, have continued under the corporate identity of YZ STRATEGY since 2007.
